Project Description
The Hard Labor Creek Regional Reservoir Social Circle-Fairplay Road project included the realignment of 2.2 miles of an existing roadway to avoid the future permanent pool for the Hard Labor Creek Reservoir. The design for the realignment of Social Circle-Fairplay Road, a two-lane rural roadway, involved compliance with AASHTO and GDOT design requirements, roadway superelevation, drainage design, guardrail design, the reconfiguration of three intersections with side streets, and the construction of two bridges. The bridges are 165 linear feet and 750 linear feet in length.
This project won a 2016 Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC) recognizing its engineering achievement demonstrating the highest degree of merit and ingenuity.
