W&A Discovers a Creative Use for Surveying Equipment
March 5, 2011

Williams & Associates participated in the Athens Area Home Builders Association Annual Golf Tournament in quite an unusual way. This tournament, like most, featured a long drive contest on one of the holes; number 1 at Lane Creek in Oconee County. Usually a marker is set in the fairway and is used to mark the longest drive, getting moved each time someone drives it further. We set up surveying equipment on the tee and actually measured the distance of the long drives, letting the golfer who hit know his exact yardage. At the end of the day, the longest drive measured 325 yards! It won the golfer who hit it a G-Pass to the University of Georgia Golf Course, good for 10 rounds.
